Brotherhood by Terry Lee

Editor’s note: For 55 years Easyriders covered what we dream would be brotherhood and or the code of the West. I covered similar topics for 30 years on Bikernet.
We are constantly seeking the right path, the meaning of life, a reminder of how we should act in this mad world of twisted thoughts and a lack of understanding how life, love and humanity should wander the earth. Here’s a longtime biker’s take on Brotherhood. Enjoy…

BROTHERHOOD BY TERRY LEE

A Brother is the dude that takes care of your family when you are in the slam.

A Brother is the dude who comes when you are in the slam and sees you, leaves some $$ in your account when he leaves.

A Brother is the dude who watches your ass when ya got an attitude adjustment to make, and make sure no candy-asses jump in.

A Brother is that dude who looks straight in your eye, firmly shakes your hand, and does what he says.

A Brother is the dude who drops everything and helps ya find that one part so you are up again quick.

A Brother is the dude who hauls your sorry ass home when you are out, AND the scoot too……. in the back of his pickup.

A Brother is but just one of many, that will come in your time of need.

A Brother is the dude beside you, behind you, in front of you, riding the wind and enjoys the lifestyle we have chosen.

A Brother is a dude who won’t fuck your ole lady if you ain’t around.

A Brother knows what Honor is, because a lot of us this age have followed it, lived by it and died by it in a fuckin’ jungle in South East Asia.

And, to go along with the one above… a Brother is one who will gladly lay down his life for you. (155,000 did)

A Brother is that dude who does not care what opinion others may have of you. He takes you for what you are.

And, a Brother is that dude who will still respect and think about you, long after you are gone and will tell others of the honorable Brother you were.

And, let us not forget the ladies……….

Since 1968 I have met quite an assortment…. Mostly easy airheads and mostly packers.

In the last 5 years, however, I have met quite a few, and more than ever, more who own their own Harleys. All are cute as Hell and all will kick your ass in a heartbeat. They are good people. The lives that they have led have made them strong and independent and being around those of similar interests and philosophies they know what we mean by Brotherhood.

Those I consider “Sisters” also fit the above definitions.

I am starting to see a resurgence of what used to be Brotherhood and it is good. I sorely miss the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, when everyone got along and clubs rode together, where you could get chills down your spine when ya looked over your shoulder and you could see 80 riders behind you and everyone playing grab-ass down the road, hooting and hollerin’.

I have been a fortunate human being to have lived and experienced the Brotherhood, the lifestyle and the camaraderie.

I can’t wait to come back next time and do it all again

Keep the wind in your face….tits in your backs and the Man off your ass. And you ladies, just keep riding lonewolf and looking good….
